Paranoid
Paranoid
I love reading this board, and some similar ones, but I have to stop and clear my head every now and then. I start an automotive witch hunt, looking for trouble, as if my truck is a fraguile egg, when in fact it's one of toughest machines on the road. Is my block going to crack? Is my lift pump about to fail? Will it take out my VP44? Is my transmission going south? Is my turbo too hot? But then, after I clear my head, I come right back to this board and soak up all the benefits I can from the wealth of experience this site offers. A friend, who has had 3 of these great trucks, was telling me the other day about his recent lift pump failure, and that it was his 2nd, and how he now had a permanent fix. When I asked him how he had fixed it, he told me the dealer had installed an intank pump. As respectfully as I could, I told him that he would really be wise to get a fuel pressure gauge. He's not a computer guy, so I told him if he had any more trouble to let me know, because I have learned of a much better solution. I'm trying to put a few safeguards on my truck, because I want it to keep on going for a long time, but I'm also telling myself not be paranoid, but to just enjoy my truck.
Sound philosophy. Look at the numbers. Many more trucks on the road than registered membership, and not all members have the dreaded problems. Sure many issues are common, but you sound like you have a good handle on how to evaluate them. I am a lot like you. I fixed my own problems, with great advice I learned right here, DTR!
