Painting Rear Drums

I put on some after market rims and the rear brake drums show. I would like to paint them black, on the cheap. What paint will hold up and what type of prep work....thanks

I would think sandblast would be the best option, then hit with a coat of Heat Primer and then Heat Paint. BBQ Paint would probably be good if you are just going for black.

media blasting would definitely be the best wat to remove the corrosion...

Also, consider looking for a chemical "conversion" primer... instead of just regular spray paint type primer.

They sell "brake paint" at the auto parts store for calipers and I'm willing to bet it's high temp (calipers get pretty toasty)... what kind of finish are you going for??? I know that when I repainted my bbq pit with the black paint that is made for pits, it peeled off the first I cooked with it (waste of money).

Keep us posted on what you find that works... I'd be interested to paint my drums just because I'm a rust freak.

This is the rim. So I thought flat black would look good and last the longest.
