Paint or Vinyl

Last night I took my 2001 Dually extra cab thru the local car wash, it is the 'No Touch " type of wash, anyway, after I pulled out of the wash bay I went around the truck to snap the mirror back into position, I then noticed the area behind the window that has a color contrast, truck is Siver, and the area behind the window is Black, had peeled from the water pressure.

I cannot tell if this is painted on or is it a vinyl sticker, does anyone know? if it is a sticker, can I get a new one from the dealer?

Thanks for the help.

It is a vinyl sticker. Not sure if the dealer could get you another one or not, but I would think they could.

Thanks for the reply, I was pretty sure it was a sticker, I will call the dealer and see if it is available.

Anyone ever pulled this sticker off? Is there a normal paint job underneath? Mine started peeling at the bottom and I always thought about pulling it off and running the normal body color between the windows, but wasn't sure if it was fully painted or not.

You should try it Aggie. I know there are 3rd Gen guys in here who have added it, so if you don't like the look you can go back.

I want to say someone pulled it off a while back and left it that paint color between the windows... Can't remember who though.

The sticker is applyed over the base color. I am going to attempt to pull the rest of it off, not sure if maybe heat can be applyed to help with the process,
the sticky is really strong.

That's what I noticed when I decided to try one day. After seeing how much adhesive was left on the area where the sticker had gotten peeled before, I discovered I need to find a better adhesive remover that's safe on paint.
