Outside Temp sensor

My temp on the overhead console reads 0 deg. celcius at all times. I was under the impression that a short would read SC and and Unplugged connector somewhere would read OC. So what would cause my gauge to read 0 at all times?

Have you checked the connector?

Celsius temperatures can only be recorded in Canda.

Since you're in Idaho, you'll have to change it to Farenheit for it to read anything.

Seriously, the sensor on your truck should be mounted to a radiator support, unsure which side though, start there.

Sensor is on passenger side as I recall. Can you switch the overhead to Farenhite?

Uh, the dealer would be a pretty safe guess! And I would think the overhead unit itself would be the problem if you can't change from ˚C to ˚F, not the sensor under the hood.

Oh, Just FYI... when the sensor is unplugged it reads -40˚F.

NAPA has them as well for about 13-14 dollars (at least for a 1995). They should also be available in wrecking yards I believe the same sensor was used for a number of Chrysler products. I don't have the part number with me but I believe it was called an ambient air temperature sensor on NAPA online
