I think it is a little high too. Maybe get him down a 1000 or 2 if possible but I think its a good deal. I would love to get my hands on it!! I know of a guy that has a 98 12v long box x-cab4x4 that only has 6000 miles on it and not even a dust mark. Still has the cardboard on the floor and the plastic on the back seat!! Absolutely immaculate!! He is a OTR trucker with his wife and you would swear by lookin at his semi he never drives it cause it is so clean!!

Another area that has concern is getting full coverage insurance coverage, if that is you plan. Some insurance companies are getting wierd about insuring old vehicles, and when they do they want you to get a classic policy which has limited mileage uses or you loose the policy. Just FYI, might be good to check out all the details. It does sound like a good deal, I would try to get him down too. Blue book is blue book, and financing is limited with a vehicle that old, big cash difference maybe?

He will come down eventually. No, you will not get that truck insured for even 15000. Probably more like 12k. The fellow is a little to pround of his truck. Let him sit on it and be patient. He wants you to take ownership of the age depreciation. Mileage is great but it aint THAT great.IMHO

Does a dealer have it or an individual? Ask the bank what the loan value is with the options on this truck. Loan value is close to wholesale but not as accurate as Black Book. Make sure it's what you want, cut your best deal & don't look back. Take a wad of $100 bills & I guarantee he'll come down. Make sure all paper work is in order. You can't stop payment on cash.

If I wanted a 12 valve badly, I might try getting $15k in cash - yes cash - and come over to talk. Show the cash, say "its yours right now - in exchage for the title". It is hard to resist, one starts thinking, well, I may get more but... when? or if??? Chances are, he'll asy, allright, you win. And you will have a very nice 12v! Then, I would probably turn around and sell the '92, why have two of the same.

Like the most of the forum: Price is to high, heck make him your best offer (Bank Loan value) while the miles are nice, and as some else had mentioned miles aren't every thing, don't forget it still is a regular cab. The reality is people aren't lining up to buy his over-priced truck. I would also keep your first generation and sell it out right.

I get a bad feeling about this deal.
"Widow has to sell" truck usually means the first buyer gets a sweat deal and then tries to cash in big time.
Bank Loan Value is pretty bogus on most vehicles over 10 years in age.
If you want the truck then decide the value to you and stick to it. Offer that as best and final. If not agreed then walk away. If truck doesn't sell in a month, come back and offer a couple hundred less ( of previous offer) stating aging depreciation.

I would try to get a Carfax and see if you can trace the VIN to the supposed old lady widow. If she does exist, she may tell you how much she actually sold the truck for. Maybe $10K? It may give you a better bargaining tool. IMHO, a deal too good to be true is just that.
