More than likely, it is an accessory gearbox gasket leak. That is where my 98 developed a leak.

Did you ever figure out your leak? If it is on the '01, I bet it is the crankcase breather tube and that catch bottle is full.

I think you can do a search on puke bottle relocation and it might help. Basically, you just remove the puke bottle and replace with a longer hose that you run down by the frame/front axle, where ever you prefer.

The bottle is just attached with a bolt. The tube just sits in it to catch the oil that comes out with the venting of the crankcase. Just pull the bottle off, clean it out and put it back on if you don't want to mess with it right now. Otherwise you can pull the bottle off and extend the breather tube to a different location...like the frame-rail under the cab. Just make sure it is a steady slope all the way so you don't get oil blocking the tube.

What do you mean, "accessory gearbox gasket leak"? Are you talking about where the vacuum pump mounts?

06er, is this oil leak question about the 06 Ram in your sig? I do not know if the 3rd gen motors are the same as my 2nd gen 24 valve but Seahawk and Kansascrewcab could be right. My truck has the vacuum pump and powersterring pump unit on the front lower left hand side of the motor. The 2nd gen models have a problem with the oil seal on the back of the vac pump leaking. I replaced mine but I also had a leak where the timing gear case mounts to the front of the block.
Get under the truck when it is idling with a rag and a light. Start wiping where you see oil dripping. Just be carefull where you reach with the fan and damper spinning under there. It took me a little time to find mine, but persistence pays every so often.
I did my own repair on both of my issues. It just takes time.
