That obnoxous buzz...

You know, when you turn on your truck and are wiating for the wait to start light to turn off and the thing is buzzing away like you actually like hearing it (thanks Dodge).
I know how to disable the whole unit, but would like to keep my keys in ignition buzz. Any way to accomplish that??

I think you can just unplug it, i know that how the buzzer in my gasser dodge was. I've been wanting to do away with the buzzer in my 02 for a while but i always forget about it when i have the time.

Get a remote starter. The truck is running when you walk up to it.

No buzz on my 02. Open door, get in, close door, insert key turn on, wait for light to go out, put on seat belt drink coffee, light out start engine, never a buzzing sound. Guess I'm lucky.

I can't recall a buzz on my 01.5 either. Glad I'm not imagining things.....I was scratching my head for a minute.

The buzz on my truck is on borrowed time.

I predict a catastrophic failure.

There might even be a small concussion associated with said predicted failure.

I also predict that the damage will be irrevocable, the buzzer unsalvageable,
and any attempts by friends, Dodge do gooders, or their agents, to effect repairs will be negotiated through the snapping teeth of my faithful companion and bone chewer "Big Black Dog".

I also hereby proclaim the buzzing device legal game to be taken by, amoung other things: ball peen hammers, dead fall traps, flame throwers, boot heels and any object that will "render the device harmless and unable to ever emit a buzz again". No closed season or daily limit.

Any truck parked in my yard found to have said buzzer in functional condition will be asked to disable the unit immediatly or leave the premises.

If the door switch on the driver's door "fails" the buzzer no longer sounds, but the interior lights don't come on when you open that door either.
The buzzer is to alert you the door is ajar, when the key is in the ignition (as you could presumably be riding down the road if the key is in the ignition), as there are people in this world that are too dumb to figure it out any other way.
It is unfortunate that things have to be dumbed-down for everyone.

Mine sounds when the door is shut also.
I can open the door going down the road and it does not sound, but the cab lights come on. I dont know, and it does not bother me all that much.

The chime will go off with the door shut AND the seat belt fastened.

The buzzer is for the seat belts. Mine does it to and I'm about sick and tired of hearing it buzz, when I hop in the truck, fire it up and I'm already moving a good way before it ever shuts the heck up and when the Seat Belt light goes out so does the buzzer. This weekend I'm going to find the connection for that thing,it has to be right close to the seat belt and I'm gonna unplug it,no more buzz I hope :P

Jimbo,
If you pull the panel around the left seat belt there is a connector you can unplug.

For others with 94-97 trucks, I read on this board or another, that the seatbelt buzzer goes bad in these trucks and will not turn off after the limited amount of tiem they should. You might consider replacing it since it is also the buzzer that alerts you to key in the ignition and lights on. I believe I read it costs either 17 or 27 bucks at the dealer. It is located in the fuse panel, but is mounted in the front so you will have to partially remove the dash to get to it, or remove the fuse panel (I believe this is more difficult than getting the dash partly out.
Since I have installed 99 deats in my 96, I just unplugged the wire at the seat belt on the driver's seatbelt (behind the panel).
