NO cold air from AC

It is getting warmer here now, so I checked the AC on my truck yesterday. There was no cold air comming out. I moved the switch from max ac to ac and could hear the fan going faster but no cold air.
What do you think, a freon charge or is there a fuse that needs to be replaced?? I will take it somewhere to get fixed, but wanted hints to what was wrong, if anyone knows.

Thankx

First check to see if the compressor is turning or not. You should hear the clutch engage and hear it in the sound of the engine. If it is not, shut the engine down first (safety), pull the wire from the clutch, start it up and turn on the A/C and check for power. If you have power then you have clutch issues. If you don't have power,(most likely) then plug the wire back in and go to the passengers side if the engine compartment. Close to the firewall you should see two aluminum tubes coming out of the black box. One will have a switch with two wires on it. Try jumpering the two wires. If it runs then it means there is a shortage of refrigerant (quite normal). At that point if you feel competent enough you can go to wally world or where ever and buy a recharge kit and do it your self or take it to someone who you feel is qualified and see what they say. Expect them to do a leakcheck. If they don't run like heck from there because they are not a reputable shop since they are not following federal laws.
