New Rotors 8800 GVW

I'm in search of some new front brake rotors for my 96 2500 4x4 Ram. I was curious what other people have used for rotors and how they worked out for you. I bought a pair of autopart store rotors a few years back and they were terrible, they warped and then formed rust/scale on the braking surface. So needless to say i'm in search of a "good" pair or rotors. I don't think i'm in need of cross drilled rotors, just a good factory type rotor.

Thanks for any info.

After much success on at least a dozen Rams the only rotors I use are Brembo.
Best price I've found is at www.tirerack.com
Hawk pads from tirerack are a prefect match with the Brembos.

Just the plain Brembo's for $73 each? That seems reasonable for a well known name brand. Thanks for the info!

Which Hawk pad would you recommend? I see there is a few different grades.

Yep, just the plain ones. A friend who owns a brakes only shop in Seattle says he can't even get Brembo that cheap and that because of the cost he only uses them on high end sports cars.

I've been using the Super Duty pads but some folks here say they've had good luck with the LTS.

Agreed- I used brembo's too- from buybrakes.com.
I have used Titanium ti22 pads with no problems, currently loving the Bendix pads with lifetime replacement (1x).

I have within the past month or so installed these brake items on my truck and all I can say is, WOW! These brakes have NEVER worked this good before. I'm very impressed. Thanks for the recomendation. It was money and time well spent.

Oh yeah, speaking of time. My wheel studs were so rusted into the unit bearing that I had to cut everyone off and drill them out with a milling machine. I started by putting them in a press, which had a PSI gauge and I cranked some up to 8000 lbs before I just gave up. They weren't even thinking of moving. So the truck got 16 new studs also.

Very first time I've heard of the studs not coming out.
Hope it never happens to me, those suckers are pricey.

I guess theres a first for everything, and I was at the raw end of that deal. The studs all cost me about $110 for just the fronts. I NeverSiezed the HECK out of them this time around.

I checked out the Tirerack and could only find the Brembo brakes for the rear. Are they the same as the fronts? I need to replace the front on my 2000 2500 Quad 4x4. I have upgraded the rear drums with the GM cylinders and that was a huge difference! Now it is time for the fronts.

Sometimes you have to call tire rack, not everything is on their website.
I could be wrong but think the front brakes were the same from '94 to '00
