new to cummins

just to start off i am in the market to buy a cummins. i am not that educated on what they go for, so i need help to see if this truck is worth it.
it is a 2001, 6-speed, extended cab, short bed, 4 wheel drive, dark red, and with 177,000. the dealership is selling it for $17,000. that sounds a little expensive for me. what should i try to talk him down to. thanks

Yes

I would look at the Internet and other places to get a ball park figure. The guys here love there trucks and will want top dollar for them, the same goes for the Dealers. That truck should go for around $16,000 in TOP Condition. That is a fair price for the HO, 6sp, 4X4, SLT.

hmmmm, i dunno about that price... seems a little steep. I would say around the 14-15k range would be fair for a great condition. I only got 21k for my 03 with 45k miles on it...

just my opinion

I agree that seem high to me as well. I wouldn't pay that! << Continue to shop around and don't believe the smoke screen they try to put on. Again to much!!!

I agree with the other guys. That is way too steep. Id say more around 13 to 14.

depends on where you live...I shopped for a long time in seattle that was a fair price for an 01 in great shape. You can always talk a dealer down some

But before you buy, check for the 53 block, and fuel pressure, and get the codes.
