Need some advice...................

My father-n-law is looking to purchase a 95 SLT dually 4x4 extended cab automatic tranny with 146,000 miles on it. He asked me to look over the truck and take it for a test drive, so I did. I now have a few questions to ask you more experienced diesel guys.

(1) I noticed a drip or two of oil coming out of the blow by tube once I returned from the test drive. Is this normal?

(2) The truck pulls to the right when driving down the highway. Could it need a front end alignment? Or a tire out of balance or low tire pressure?

I know for sure it needs 6 new tires and an exhaust system soon but otherwise the truck runs strong. Body is in real good shape for a 95. No rust and only 1 very small dent. Guy is asking $10,300 for the truck and the price seems reasonable to me. What do you guys think?

Thanks.........HUMP

The drip is difficult to go by ,? is how much in how many miles , the pull is nothing without new tires, then every 10,000-30,000 depending on your driving conditions, if the tires are bald then the alinement is a waste. the millage is good, the price may be a little high but would have to see . See if you can find out about mods. how much its been worked[ tow-hard driving, off road] weak points are trans[ mostly T.Q.] ft. end ,get off ground see if steering is tight[ side to side] ball joints [ top to bottom] and u- joints.

I drove the truck for about 6 miles and when I came back and looked under it is when I noticed the small drip of oil coming out of the blow by tub. The drip was about the size of an eraser head on a pensil.

The tires are not bald as of yet, they should pass state inspection but I doubt they will give any decent traction in snow.

I know that the guy who currenty has it uses the truck to pull a goose neck cattle trailer, not sure how often or how much weight. He had the front ball joints and u joints replaced this month. The tranny, transfer case, brakes and steering all seemed very good. 4 Wheel drive worked like a charm. No additional concerns that I seen.

I would make sure the kdp has been tabbed. If you need more info on that, do a search and you will have plenty of reading. Good Luck!

If he replaced the ball joints without a allinement, that would explane the pull!
