cool beans... im pretty sure its probably just a relay trip wire that needs to be clipped and secured out of the way... if thats not it, its probably going to be rather involved...

According to several sources, the headlight switch wasn't designed to carry the current of both beams on at once. As another suggestion you can install a "Brite Box" which hooks into your existing wiring. It can be obtained from places like Geno's Garage.
