might be selling my truck ....

THIS IS NOT AN AD .... i just want some opinions on a fair price if i do decide to sell my truck. heres a little background as to why i am considering this ..... i bought a 15 passenger van over a year ago to start a van service for the amish here in lanc. co. Pa. so far so good so i decided to upgrade to a newer van with much less mileage ( 47,000 now compared to 215,000 ) so in the last year including a trip to fla and back and a few other semi-long trips i have put less than 15000 miles on my truck. paying full coverage ins and still have about 10 months of payments left i cant see paying for it anymore if im not using it. i have not completely made up my mind 1 way or the other and not looking to be coached either way, i know how you guys are.. :-) im wondering what u guys think of a price..... 97 standard cab,8 foot bed, cap, 5 spd, grizzly double bend step bars, 01' wheels, like new 285/75/16 generals, aftermarket pioneer am/fm/cd,2kicker subs,4 m/b quartz 6x9's, 2 amps ( dont recall the specs off hand but think 1 is a 400x4 ) 4inch turbo back exhaust including a brand new 4 inch muffler if u decide to use it,cloth interior,ac,cruise, delay wipers, kdp killed, under 130,000 miles. this truck runs great. one member of the group ( dont want to mention a name w/out first asking him )drove it and can tell you it is a very strong rig. im thinking around $12,500 is that out of hand ?? thanks guys, scott

I would just look at what the same type vehicle in your area is selling for and also check a few of the online "blue book" values.

Unfortunately, any mods (stereo, exhaust, etc.) are basicly worth nothing towards resale unless you can find someone that was planning to add that stuff to the truck they wanted to buy.

If it isn't listed on the factoy stuff, the bank don't care, it may as well not be there.

You said you owe about 10 more payments on it. I think you have come to far now in your investment to turn back. I know you have stopped using your truck in the last few months due to driving the van, but what about the fact of ever needing to pull a wagon, or hauling something. Will this ever come up? Do you want to sell it, if you have not made up your mind, then i suspect not. After 10 months you will be able to change your insurance to liability only, and that will be a lot cheaper, given you have a good driving record. Just weigh what you have spent on the truck thus far, and ask your self if you will get bored with out it, or need it onse you sell it?

Personally, i would not get rid of my truck, especially if i do not have one to back it up with. Guys will always need trucks, if they have any country boy in em at all.
