Lowering the back of a 3500 4x4

I did a search, and a few threads mentioned using a shorter lift block, one even mentioned using a stock lift block from a Ford SD.

Anyone done this, even cutting their stock blocks down on a band saw or something?

I just want to level the truck some... with the Ranchhand-style front bumper it's notably nose down.

I can't lift the front to match... it won't fit in the parking deck at work if I do!

If I use any 'ol aftermarket block, will that work?

I think you should just get a 2" leveling kit. I put one on my truck and it really didn't change the cab height that much. Lowering the back is a bad Idea in my opinion. Oh yeah and I do have a full replacement bumper in the front so I have the same weight as you if not more. Go to e-bay and do a search for "Dodge Leveling kit" that is where I got mine and go with a metal one if you do go this rout.

Not much to chose from today but this is the one I got but I paid $100 for it a few months back.

My dad has a 99 ford and had a problem with the rear being too high for his fifthwheel. He went to a wrecking yard and found some 2inch lift blocks that would fit the truck( I think the stock ones were 4 inch) The new blocks dropped the rear down and leveled it out nice. There were problems though... When taking off with a heavy load(33ft fifth wheel) he would hear a grinding/binding noise. Took it too the dealer, finally figured out that dropping the rear end down shortened the drive shaft at the slop yolk. This caused the two ends to bind up under heavy load. I think he ended up having the drive shaft shortened a little.
I don't know if this would be a problem on a dodge though. CJ

There is a TSB to lower the rear specifically for 5vers if you want to pay the $700!
The TSB doesn't include shortening the drive line, so atleast 1" lower should be OK. That's what I'm planning on anyway, and the side benefit should be increased rear braking since the proportioning rod length won't change.
