03 Ram 3500 4X4 Lowering

;D A couple of weeks ago I ordered an 03 RAM3500 4X4 Laramie with 48RE. I've been pulling my 10,000lb 5th wheel with my 01 RAM 2500 4X2. The 4 wheel drive is about 3" higher than the 2 wheel drive. Has anyone had any problems leveling their 5er for towing?? I've heard from the dealer that DC has a lowering kit for the 3500. Has anyone put one of these kits on their truck?? I'd prefer to leave the truck at stock height if possible.

I went through the same worries you are having when I purchased my Dodge. The worries in my case were unwarrented. The main rear springs on the 3500 are pretty soft and my camper put the truck down to the overloads. It rides almost level. My trailer tongue weight is around 2200 pounds.

We had the exact same problem. We bought a new Reese 22K fifth wheel and just put it on the lowest mounting level setting on the new 4X4. We were able to back into the king pin fine and it sits great. A second option would be to put on bigger axles on the trailer to help compensate for the height difference.

If you look under the rear spring pack you will see app 1.25" of block(two peices of spring). You could remove these and drop the truck a little. This would not change your load capacity.

jt
