Loose side mirror ?

The passenger side mirror on my 97 is loose in it's mount and sort of flopping around at times . I would presume there is a bolt or nut underneath the plastic cover to adjust the tension , but the cover doesn't appear like it wants to pop off of there very easy . Is there any special trick to getting the cover off without wrecking it ?

Re:Loose side mirror ?

Your in luck.. sort of. My life long best friend is the guy who tests the chrystler mirrors and his dad has the patents on most of them. Actually if you have a 97 you can replace them with the mirrors off a 98 if you prefer that look. So I asked him.. this is what he says.

Me: The passenger side mirror on my 97 is loose in it's mount and sort of flopping around at times . I think there's one screw toward the front of the truck near the mirror you can take out but the rest of it is fir tree clips. If you can take that front screw out you may be able to pry back that part and get in there with a 10mm socket
Me: right
Me: Sounds good
Him: I think the torque is 60in/lbs fyi

Hope that helps.
