Lift done wrong....

Not sure if this is the right spot ??? but here it goes. My buddy just installed a Skyjacker 2.5" suspension lift on his '98 2500 4x4 cummins(obviously). He did it by himself and it seems to be sitting HIGHER in the front than in the back!!! My question is do the coils need time to settle or did he do it wrong?

P.S. thanks for the info.

did he just lift the front? or what? some times if you put in a front leveling kit in a truck that does not need it, it will sit higher in front! commen fix is ad another leaf in the back!

Re:Lift done wrong....

It was an all around lift with a single add-a-leaf spring in the rear that went on top of overload spring on bottom of pack. I think he said it was supposed to re-arch the whole pack sense it has a higher arc to it?

The front coil springs will settle a lot after driving it a few days.

When I was a kid. The tough looking 4x4s were higher in the front. This was cool then and to me still is. I install 2in. leveling kit just to get that look. 8)

I do have a question to go with this. I look out there and find trucks that say skyjacker 10 inch or someohw have a 10-15 in suspension lift alone... But when i went out shopping ( havent bought yet) all i could find were 5 in lifts as the largest.. where or how to you get the 10 in lifts?

Re:Lift done wrong....

that is all custom stuff when you get in the 10+ lift or more. you can get a 5 or 7 and a 3" body and clear just about anything you want to run. just trim some sheet metal.

Re:Lift done wrong....

If the truck had a factory snow plow package this could be the cause for the squat in the rear. All snow plow package trucks I've ever seen have done this a little. Just a suggestion though.

Re:Lift done wrong....

I believe the 98-2000 trucks had a smaller block between the rear leafs and the axle. My 99 sat fairly level stock. If you/he got a kit for a newer truck it may be the reason the front sits higher. He could get the larger blocks, call Skyjacker about it (their customer service sucks), have his springs rearched, or live with it.

Just my 2 cents
Nathan

Re:Lift done wrong....

I dont have an answer for you but I have a question on the same subject. I am going to put a 5 inch on my 2500 ctd. I have heard that the steering becomes loose on some of the 2500's. Something to do with some of the components not being able to handle the weight. Anyway are there any other mods I should make when I install the lift to keep this from happening down the road.

RAMTECH
