I have the keyless entry system on my 2002 2500. Currently when you unlock the doors, the enterior lights come on. is there any way to make the parking lights come on when you unlock it? also, currently when you lock the doors the horn honks. i would like for the parking lights to flash with the lock function as well.

I dont want the parking lights to come on any time the dome lights are on though, nor do i want the parking lights to flash everytime i lock the doors. i want this to only happen when i use the keyless entry system. I imagine that it should be something simple, because when you hit the panic mode, the lights flash.

I am pretty sure my dads 2006 does what i want.

 

Check your owners manual, don't have mine handy, but it might tell you how to reprogram the system to do what you want, or change them. Good luck

Pretty sure those aren't part of the options with just keyless entry.

It might be an option if you have the factory alarm though.

Many after market alarms have those options as well.

well i looked in the manual and of course the only "programmable" option is to turn the horn beep on/off when locking the doors.

i was thinking that maybe i could find the wire that supplies the signal to turn on the dome lights as well as the one that beeps the horn and tie them into the parking lights via diodes. I'm no electrical engineer, but if i'm not mistaken a diode is a one way electrical check valve. therefore i should be able to make the parking lights come on when a signal either honks the horn or turns the dome lights on. anyone validate or deny this?

also who knows where the brain for the keyless entry system is?
