To keep or move on.

I currently have 170k miles on the truck in my sig I do NO preventative maintenance at all. I only fix things as they break. Besides the doors and break lines the truck is relatively rust free. Mechanically motor and Tranz are sound. The front end has never been touched so it will need the works. It also needs wheel bearings and a new rear am trying to decide if I should spend a few thousand fixing her up and keep her or pick up another one that has less miles and less issues. Also what other issues should I expect to run into that need fixing or addressed at my milage.

If you sell this truck and get a new one you will only be in the same boat a little later down the road as you do no preventative maintenance.. I would put the money into this one and fix it all up right, this way you know its all been fixed unlike if you get another truck..

170k miles? Ive had them with 400k500k you have a long ways to go. If I were you i would keep and and put money into it, at least youll know what you have. Unless you want to go 3rd generation for the 4 full doors or something. also looks like you have invested alot in mods which you would have to invest all over again and probably take a hit selling your current one. definately research the selling market first, its more of a buyers market Im thinking, but these are just my opinions. good luck

Yea 170k is still low milage. I was planing on picking up an 01-02 from down south with 100k or so just to have fresh start. But now that you mention it. I've had mine since 20k and I know it's history so I'd feel safer fixing my issues then picking up where some one else left off. Is there any issues that I should expect to run into as far as typical repairs for 170k.
I plan on steering, rear, new doors, some U joints, wheel bearings.

Dkenny I was just looking for a new to me truck. And was planning on swapping my go fast goodies over to a less rusty and lower milage truck. I've since made the discussion to keep what I have and fix my issues. Wheel bearing and ball joints getting fixed this week. Block is NOT 53. The rear is starting to hum and thump on tight turns. Trust me my engine is broken in. Lol. It's been run hard everyday since I've had it. And I've had it since 20k
