Information or advice for dash removal
I recently replaced the top of my dash. It took me and a friend about 3 hours to complete. I'm not sure it can be done without two people. Be patient and don't force anything. The older plastics are brittle and expensive. There are several good threads on this subject. Some including pictures. I used this post as well as the factory service manual. http://https://www.dieseltruckresour...t=dash+removal
If link doesn't work search "dash install" and look for post by scottsjeep...

Agreed with the above post. I did mine and what I suggest is go ahead and replace a/c evap and heater core while you're in there and buy the plastic clips that the dash screws to at the top. I broke 3 of mine and the truck was down for 3 days waiting on these parts. Also, I did mine myself and it wasn't too bad. It only took me 4 beers (3 hrs.)
I found this someplace. I'm planning on replacing mine this summer. I got my replacement dash from the junkyard. I'm not sure about disconnecting the passenger airbag as it was already disconnected and out. Once you rotate the dash back towards the seat, look in thru the windshield, to find the screw locations under the dash you need to remove. Can't remember for sure but I think there were about 8. The later model 2nd gens are easier than the early ones. Less screws. Most of the ducting comes out with the top cover. You also need to change the serial number over to the new dahsh top cover. Hope the writeup helps.
