Impulse buy, should I have walked away?

I love my 94 2500. I love it so mutch, I bought it's bigger brother.

94 CTD 3500 dually 2 wheel drive 5 speed
Western hauler style bed.
325,000 miles but runs great now that I've changed the fuel filter and screen.
Body is trashed, interior is too. (hope to find a 1/2 ton donor truck to fix that)

$3500

The guy kept telling me the bed was worth that. I kep telling him I didn't care about the bed, lol. Probably going to try to sell it to buy a factory bed.

This thing has been a farm truck for a few years now. It wouldn't run right and I don't think the guy knew about the fuel screen on the lify pump as it was completely clogged. Changed it and the fuel filter out and it runs and drives great, just looks REALLY ugly.

From there hopefully the 1/2 ton body parts and interior will fit and I can make a decent truck.

Think it was a good deal or should I have walked away?

I think you got a deal. You should just strip it down and make a drag truck out of it.

lol, drag truck. Not a bad idea, but the only drag strips around here are 1/8 mile. Boring in my book. Might consider it if there was a good 1/4 mile track.

I think it's important for your truck to have another truck to talk to.

That would be good except for the big pile of hay. Don't think I would have enough time to stop before I hit it. Although it wouldn't hurt the truck mutch more than it already is, the track may not find it as amusing as I would.

Wanted to ask, since the body is shot. Is it possible to put an extended cab and short bed on the truck. It's a standard cab long bed. I think I could stillget the dually flares to work on a short bed, but not sure about frame length.

Would be a neat possibility since I'm starting from scratch anyways.

The extended cab short bed is a couple inches shorter than the regular cab long bed, I have always wanted to try that swap myself. I would think they would fit, but it probably wouldn't be a straight bolt up. I think the cab and bed mounts would have to be moved. Let us know if you go that way.

hmmm, I figured if anything the extended cab short bed would be longer.

Shorter could be workable. Time to get the measuring tape out.
