HVAC Blower Motor
Folks,
I am 99% sure that I need to replace my HVAC blower motor. Here are my symptoms. Driving home the other day I suddenly started getting electrical interference on my stereo. The frequency of the interference (electrical clicking) was directly related to the speed of the blower. Speed up the fan, and the frequency of the electrical noise increases. Slow down fan, same thing. Then about 10 mins later I noticed that my fan was barely blowing any air. I turned the **** for fan speed to slowest speed and then to highest speed - no change. Fan was just barely turning over. I turned the **** for the different settings (AC/defrost/floor vents etc) to off for a few minutes. When I turned it back on, the fan worked at all speeds, properly for the last few mins of my trip. Went out for a trip yesterday and for the first 10 mins of the trip all was fine, then the same symptoms as the day before. So, I am 99% sure that it is either the HVAC blower speed switch or the blower motor. To me, the electrical interference and the fact that it works ok for a few minutes until things heat up, says to me that the brushes etc within the blower motor are done. Does anyone have a different opinion?
