Give it a sharp thump with your hand. That got mine to spinning until I got a chance to get a new one. If that doesn't work pull it out and supply 12 volts directly to the motor. That will at least tell you if the motor is bad. I found one in a u-pull-it yard for $5 out of a low mileage 1500. I think NAPA carries them as well for about $30.

Right next to the fan motor, however, when they fail usually the fan just has high speed only.

Reviving the thread here, my motor seems to be on it's way out. It's seemed very weak last while, on level three it seems to barely move air. Now it also rattles funny on every setting. How do you get at the motor? Easy to replace?

My blower motor had stopped working all together. I just pulled it out and found that it had sucked pieces of paper inside where the windings and brushes are. I cleaned it out real good with Electric motor and com cleaner made for rc cars and oiled the bushings/bearings, re-installed it and now it works great! Except now I was able to find out that my heater core and evap core are both seeping.... grrrr.
