Hub Conversion

so, I'm rebuilding my front end and FINALLY got the pos hubs off. Did not really enjoy myself and the inability to maintain them (at $400 each) coupled with there expected life span (50-100k) has me looking at DYNATRAC's conversion.

Has anyone done this to a 3500 DRW yet?
Was it worth it?
Did you see a mileage improvement?

What do you think?

If you have the hub bearings off, I suggest putting grease fittings in them before putting them back on, if you stay with the Dodge setup. I saw a web page where someone else did this and his bearings are lasting longer.
I will certainly be doing it to mine next time I have it apart.

Do a quick search here, there are several threads that pretty much cover any possibility from home brewed to high end conversions.

I don't think the mileage gain has been definitely answered, some report better mileage, some don't.

One thing for sure, if you are in the middle of BFE, parts are easier to get.

Thanks for your input. I did a search here. Thats how I found that hub conversion was actually an option. I've searched the 3 major players in the field. Dynatrac seems to have the nicest kit and lots of people have used it. But I didn't see any DRW's in the signatures and was wondering if anyone with a DRW had actually done the conversion. Maybe I missed it?

I like how mark74 did his wheel bearings, nice, simple and above all cheap. Wish I'd known that when I was doing my upper ball joint a few weeks ago!

I did the ems off road kit. I love it. Works great, but I can not testify to install has I hired it done because I was changing jobs and moving to another state. I might have a small gain in mileage but is neglible. I love best the simplicity of having locking hubs, and the low hole 2wd. I also put in the CAD delete kit at the same.

In regards to a DRW, there really isnt a whole lot to different than spacers I suppose.

Can someone tell me if someone makes the hub conversion for just the hubs? It looks to me that the kits have other parts in them to up grade the front end. I am not interested in all that, I just want to be able to grease my wheel bearing when needed for longevity.

you have no choice but to change the outer stub shaft when converting over. Changing the inner shafts are optional.
Call dynatrac for the drw kit. I believe you have to have your stock spacers bored out a little.

I just ordered the dynatrac kit. Diesel Doc is correct...the kit is all or nothing as the hubs add length and require a different stub axle (which is included). If you have a DRW (as I have) the stock adapter will not fit. Arrowcraft makes the appropriate adapters ($360). Theres a link from dynatracs web site. The kits kinda pricey (2K) but well worth it IMHO. There are other which offer conversion hubs as well but all are complete kits.
