I'm going to side with the shock suggestion.
I have not used the Ranchos on this truck, but I can tell you the bilsteins made a HUGE difference in the ride of this truck. It does not ride as well as it does at full payload, but it is night and day. Best bang for the "$" IMHO.

My ride was somewhat harsh in stock trim. 245/75-16s, ranch hand bumpers. Installed the Lukes-link kit for the track bar, Skyjacker 2.5" front coils, Bilstein 7100 remote resevoir front shocks and Bilstein 5150 piggy back resevoir shocks for the rear and 285/75 tires. Springs and shocks made a big difference but the tires take the jolt out of the expansion joints.
