heater/ac blower fan

I have 97 dodge ram 4x4, 318 engine, 230,000 plus miles. Runs good. My problem is the blower fan is working intermittingly. It works when I start the engine and the next time I start it the blower will not come on for at least 3 to 5 minutes. The blower speeds are also affected by this problem.
My question: is the blower motor going bad or is there some other
problem in the circuit I need to look at first. All help is desired.

Blower motor is easy to pull out. Hook it up to a battery or charger and at 12v is should be running wide open. If it does look for the resister block a little farther up. I would bet its the motor going south though.

Thumbs up Partsman

To partsman. Your suggestion was on line. It was the motor. however the old fan still ran strong, but being bogged down by motor trash, carbon, bits of armature shavings, etc. It wouldn't have been long before the motor went
**** up. Thanks for your input.
