Air Conditioning on a 97

Well now that its getting hot out my 97's AC i can tell isnt up to par, i had a 94 and it would get cold instantly and stay cold, this 97 it takes a few minutes for it to start getting cold and with it around 100 degrees it can barely keep the cab cool so i think its just low on freon or whatever that substitute stuff is called(r123 or something like that). Can i just go and buy one of those refill kits at kragen and fill it up some more? Where is the connector on the truck at?

Thanks for any advice and help.

Sean

I had the same problem 2 years ago. The local dealer is one of the few local A/C places so I went to them. An evacuation & refill was under $75 System has been fine since. It was only low on R-134A freon, but you never know the true problem without looking furher.
