Headliner repair with existing material?
I have read several threads about repairing your headliner with NEW material, but I haven't seen one talking about just re-glueing the existing one. Can this be done or do you need to replace the material too?
The problem isn't that you can't glue it back, it is the foam they put in between the fabric and the board will continue to let go. I got a few months out of mine before it let go again..... But this time I am gonna have to bite the bullet and do it with new material.
patdaly, you helped me with the old elbow on the a/c drain trick, so i'm gonna throw you one back, the best way is to pull out your headliner board, take a wire brush and get everything off i mean everything, all the old foam has to come off, get new piece of headliner material, 3m spray glue will work, fit your headliner over your board, leave extra on the edges, you can trim later, after you fit everything up, pull up one side, fold it over the other side, spray glue on the board an the headliner material, let it tack up, unfold material over glued section, smooth everything out, repeat for the other side, there really ain't a quick fix for this, it's the foam that messes everything up, once it starts deteriorating you can't get it back, hope this helps, i'll keep checking an see if you need more info, my dad owned an upholstery shop so i had to do the scraping
