Headliner material

Hi, my Ramcharger has the sagging headliner syndrome. I want to replace it with a vinyl type af fabric but I dont know which is the best option or where to get it from. I had a local guy do two of my other trucks and two of dads but he has gone out of business. He told me that the reason the oem style headliners start to sag is that the foam backing that is what holds the fabric to the yellow headliner itself starts to deteriate over time. He said that touching it actually is bad for it. I want a material to cover it that doesnt have the foam backing. Anyone ever used a different material before? I know I have seen pics of trucks on Ebay and such with a leather style material but I want a tan color to match the rest of the interior. As always any help is appreciated

I'm re-doing mine and using the standard foam-backed headliner material. It lasted twenty years. If the new material lasts twenty more, it will outlast the truck and likely outlast me!

I did the one in my ford ranger with a leather looking vinyl that I bought at the fabric store in town. I just peeled the old stuff off and used
3m super 77 spray adhesive. It looked good was easy to clean and never fell down again

I ended up at a fabric store also. Find one of the old ladies, they know how to work with stuff like this. I found one to give me advice on to how to go about doing it. I ended up using an old confederate flag for mine. It's lasted a few years do far here in the Arizona heat. She told me how to use the iron and steam to get wrinkles out, and some sort of fabric glue she pointed out in store to bond the flag to the old fabric. Also taught me how to cut the corners to keep the fabric "true" to the roof line.
