Question hard steering?

I'm just wondering if anybody else has had this problem.. I have an 02 dodge cdt HO 4x4 and it seems like it is very hard to steer. It doesn't road walk it just seems extremely tight....

Done.

And no, no hard steering here.

Assume you checked the PS fluid?

You might also want to change that power steering fluid... It might be getting dark looking...

Assume you are talking at slow speeds, like parking? If so, simple solution is don't turn the wheel unless you are moving at least a little. Power steering can work poorly when foot is on the brake because P.S. uses brake boost pump to augment itself.

Also suck fluid out of your reservoir and replace with new once a week, until it comes out looking like new. 4x4's are hard on PS Fluid. I find PS fluid will turn black in about 5,000 miles if you work your truck hard.

If you are talking about hard steering while driving down the road - I have no idea other than old fluid.

I kinda of cheated when I changed it... I pull the return line off the back side of the pump and started the truck and fed it fresh in to the pump until it came out clean... I got some water in mine awhile back and it made it low power in the power steering dept.

If you got to NAPA you can buy power steering fluid for about $10.00 a gallon

Still change the fluid first then think about the pump... But it is cheaper to change the fluid that changing the pump...

If the fluid gets thin or contaminated it will make the steering hard moving or stopped!
