is it a standard or a auto? i am thinking about buying one like yours with a standard. the engine is bad tho. i don't think you can go wrong for 600 bucks tho. im a good mechanic on diesels and stuff. i know how to turn the pump up and stuff, your ump is rolly not turned u all the way, it may be but you should look and see if the fuel sto is gone or not, if theres one there, take it out, if its gone, good deal.

Congrats on findin this site Argve. I Actually started diggin around the truck and found a couple of things that i liked (only becaue it saved work for me.) I found out that he is and has been runnin synthetic in the truck (found receipts for oil changes) He already swiss cheesed the stock airbox and installed a K & N air filter, had a pyro mounted, so i dont need to drill and tap for that (gauge is on the way) And it has a gatorback belt intstalled. I THINK that the Dowel Pin may have been addressed already, because i noticed that the timing cover has been removed and then reinstalled using Permatex. So all in all, I think I got a great truck for $4700!!

Mine had a k and n when I got it but everyone says get it off there ,it lets in too much dirt.I think it does also since the airhose to the turbo was coated with dust.try a bhaf on your new truck, thats the next thing i plan to change,it just 40-50 bux and napa has them.Get you a 10 plate and a 3 or 4 gsk and youll be set

I noticed that it would be nice to have a 3k GSK, do you have the part # for the BHAF?

Ryan,

Good to hear that your pretty sure that the KDP has been taken care of, that's a relief.

Now for blowing holes in the stock air box, humm might gain ya a little but I think that if we just toss it out from under the hood all together it might be a better deal. I know I'm looking into doing a BHAF here in a few weeks, I seen somewhere where someone had plans for a heat shield posted and I need to go digging for that again. I got some stainless I liberated from work (scrap bin - we throw away some pretty nice things).

Now for your K&N... I have always run them on my past vehicles and never seen dust on any of the surfaces running between the air filter and turbo. Now I would of expected to see it in the turbo of The Enterprise seeing as how in the days before my RDT that it would have created something short of mud/sludge in the turbo inlet housing. But (there's always a butt involved isn't there ) I was reading in one of the TDR rags that Cummins did a study on K&N and flat said in a nutshell "Don't use one - the dirt particles will destroy the engine" Now I was pretty confident in running one and had pretty much planned on getting one for this Cummins because with my past experience with Banks Engineering (Banks supplies them with just about all their stuff). Seems that maybe using a K&N is not quite the best idea (oh well live and learn huh).
