Fuel gauge.

Just had a draw straw installed then filled up the tank and am now realizeing that after driving for 300km my gauge is reading incorrecly. After a week it's only just below the white full line and has not moved. When key is turned off gauge will drop to empty and when key is turned to on or engine started the gauge will rise to it's present postion and on budge. I'm wondering what effect on the gauge if any would crossing the red and blue wires on the in tank sending unit have? or could the float be hung up on something?. If a replacement is in order, are they bio compatable, I'm running B50.

Thanks

Sounds like the microelectrical reader on your sending unit is either jammed up or down or maybe it was somehow damaged???? The fuel level reading is made by the float rising and lowering. There is a small needle with about 20 little pins under it that is attached to the float rod that each send a different electrical signal as the float reaches a new position in the fuel. Its a possibility it may be the culprit of the problem. First however, I would check to make sure all connections on top of the sender unit are tight.

The sender part number found in various threads here is not correct for all years. I ordered one and found that the resistance range was much less than my original sender. I ended up swapping the new float arm and pin onto the old resistor base.
