Front end rebuild

I'm back with a simple question. The brake job with further inspection has lead to front axle u-joint replacement and now tie rods and related components. I have always used MOOG in the past and now on Amazon I see MOOG's private label "QUICKSTEER" does anybody have any info on quality etc. They are made by MOOG and claim to have the same spec/quality. Can anybody steer, (no pun intended), me in the right direction. Maybe even a different brand alltogether.

Only part I've had that was moog was 2 track bars, haven't been overly impressed. First one lasted about 30k miles, I've got about the same on this one and it's starting to loosen up a bit. Over 120k on most of the napa tie rods and still nice and tight. Same goes for the Timken hubs and XRF ball joints, about 90-100k on those. Sorry if I didn't answer your question!

this depends on what year of truck you have. You dont have it listed in signature. but if this applies do a search on this site in the search tab for 98-99 HD steering conversion.

or if you have 17" or bigger wheels and you are a 2001.5 or 2002 truck you could look at what I did and did on this conversion. at first this upgrade came from a 4th gen steering system that was was usable on 3rd gen trucks. Later found out later 2nd gen trucks can use this as its the same taper.

However I have had good luck with Moog or Raybestos. They both have different lines of products. both have diff warranties.

wheel bearings I currantly have 1 moog and 1 napa. likely the NAPA bearing is a moog. 1 has 70k miles other has 30k.

U-joints of all I like the moog super-u joints. get greasable I like to use ones that have a needle bearing on the drive shafts and the angle zirt on axle joints. I usually carefully take off the bearing caps and remove all that I can of the grease they come with . re pack with a good marine #2 grade grease. put on the bearing caps and then install and then use the grease gun. drive a few days and then put some more grease in them due to settled grease.

if you have to do the axle u-joints you have to break loose the wheel bearing and then remove ball joints.

my b-joints are moog I believe. I have 25-30k miles on them.
I have heard great things about the xrf ball joints but never used them.

if you are doing this yourself take the time when you pull the axles and clean sand and repaint them.
