Front Brake Conversion

I have an 01' truck and I want to upgrade the front brakes with 03' componets. I have seen alot on here about the rotors and caliper brackets but I can't find an answer as to whether or not I can install the 03' calipers on my truck. Im sure they will fit but they are a different part number and I have some concerns. Thanks.

I am not sure if it can be done or not, but one of the concerns I would have is whether the larger rotors would fit inside the 16 inch wheels on a 2nd gen truck, or if you would need to upgrade to 17 inch wheels.

Welcome to the site.

00-08 are all the same caliper,no matter that there different part numbers. no need to get 03 calipers, just use your 01caliper, and you will need 17inch rims.

Hi, I am the one who figured this out and did it years ago. Just use your calipers and buy the larger rotors, and brackets and your good to go. I bought the dust covers to put on at a later date when I replace the front bearing. Make sure you have larger wheels, 17s or bigger. I run 19.5s that weigh over 150 lbs each and can lock up the wheels no problem.

Will this work on the rears, too? Or is it not even necessary?

What is the difference in diameter between the 00-02 front rotors and the 3rd gen rotors?

Yes it will work on the rears too, some guy did it and posted. Whenever my rears need replacing Ill do those too. I got the 3rd gen backing plates and will install those tomorrow when the ball joints get done.

likely one inch larger, but its the difference in the pad thats huge

here is jasons post with pictures to compare, trust me its worth every dollar, the difference is extremely noticable once your using the brakes hard, where mine used to fade, these keep stopping
