Chrome front to Sport front conversion

I'd like to switch my chrome front (laramie style) bumper to the sport "bumper cover" style front end. Has anyone done this. I've seen sport front bumper covers on ebay, but not sure if they'd fit over my factory chrome style bumper. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi J.P. I'm in the same boat!! I don't want to spent the $$$ for what they want on e bay or anywhere else. I'm just gonna buy the paint and spray the bumper. Of cource, prepping it 1st sanding the chrome off then prime it and paint it. If you don't mind a little diff. of the look from the chrome to the cover, you can also keep your bumper insert this way.

I think if you just take the grille inserts out of the grille and the bumper and go back with black there if you can, that it would be just enough chrome to bring out the chrome in the wheels and the writing on the doors etc. and be badd a**. or go with the sport look and black everything out. Either way the truck is FINE AS H. E. double hockey sticks right now.

I don't think that is his truck in the pic unless it is another truck he owns. It says 1500 on the side and the pic in his avatar shows a white truck. That is a nice truck though......

I am going to buy a black sport front bumper and matching rear bumper this week.........can't wait!

I found them about 50 miles away, for a good price. Hopefully they are in good shape.

Hopefully, the black sport will look good on my truck:

If it were me, I'd get 'em painted silver to match the bottom of your truck. It shouldn't cost more than another $200.

Yep, sure thought of doing this......it would look good, especially for the rear bumper.

Putting on the front bumper is a PAIN with the diesel. Pulled mine off this weekend because i'm building a new one, had to loosen off the intercooler and slide it up in order to get the mounting brackets off While if dodge had designed some decent mounting hardware the brackets would be off in a few minutes instead of an hour

I bought a cover for my chromie. It's Awesome, better than the sport one IMO, BUT don't plow through a snow bank with it. Cold plastic + hard snow= $400+ lesson
I'm holdin out for one of the big bad steel ones now.
