I have a 96 so I may not know what I am talking about. After your switch there is a multi-speed resistor, easy to get to, when it gos bad all you will have is high speed. Cheap fix from NAPA.

Blackimpala is correct. I have replace mine a couple times now. The resistor screws into an area near the fan and has a plug that plugs into it. When you pull yours out it will probably be either cracked or the connections broken. Stubby phillips head comes in handy. Good luck

Swordfish, if you have to keep changing the fan resistor maybe your fan is going bad and is putting a higher load on the resistor.

Thanks for the heads up floyd. I did just that after the second resistor blew in a 2 week period. Replaced the fan and the resistor has been good for about 2 months now.

All good info on the fan resistor for the fan speeds however you must also have a vacuum leak as the modes are vacuum actuated with a fail safe to def. If vacuum bleeds off it will default to def. If the lines look ok up on the drivers firewall check for a rotted line under the drivers battery.

Just got the email notification today. Must be a common thing. done a replacement many times in my dodge. It actually does not work at any speed. The rear control **** works fine at all speeds but the front does nothing.why don't you call on the dealer, give the part number and ask for a possible solution.

I had the same problem with my truck since I have owned it. I pulled my fan out and dust and mud fell out. The resistor also crumbled into pieces due to the bad fan causing a greater draw on the resistor. Check those parts and get back to us.
