Question exhaust

i have been having some problems with exhaust. when ideling it sounds like something is rattling in the mufler. i am going to buy 5 inch exhaust stacks through stylin concepts. the question is if i cut the exhaust off right behind the cab(where the cab and bed meet) will it cause any problems with my truck? it will be 2 months before i get the stacks. i just can't hanble the rattling. i used to have a 97 1500 ram and was told no to cut the exhaust off do to it causes computer problems. i am new to diesels an don't want to do anything that can hurt the engine.

Do you still have your cat on your truck? You need to fill out your SIG, that will help us help you.

Why don't you just cut your muffler off and add a stright pipe in its place? You can go to any auto parts store and get a pipe to replace your muffler.

i am getting the 5"stacks but i am just tired of the ratteling. i have an extra 90 degree bent 3"pipe and if it will not harm any thing i want to cut the exhaust right behind the cab and take off exhaust behind cut. then put in the 90 degree bend and run it right out infront of the rear wheel. it would just be a temp fix.

You can do that with no problem. The reason I said to replace the muffler with a pipe is because you said you weren't going to get the stacks for some time. The full exhaust might keep some eyes off of you til you do your stacks.

I think this is what you would call internet TAG It use to be phone tag.

Cut your exhaust off and put a turn-out on in front of your back tire.
