Duramax wheels

I've noticed a lot of people using H2 wheels and boring out the centers but no one running the Duramax wheels. I like the 03-05ish style and they are pretty easy to come by. Is there any reason these aren't used?

Nope...besides the fact that it has a Chevy logo on it, haha. Same bolt patern, just need to drill out the hubs. My buddy has them on his 3rd gen, I'll see if I can get pics.

I think the DMAX wheels are 16x7, the 2nd gen Dodge aluminum wheels are 16x8, if you don't need the width for wider tires then they should work fine.

Looks like they are 16x6.5 I figured they'd be 16x8's

Yeah, they are definitely narrower, they'll work for stock size tires, but don't go too big. My buddy runs 9.50's on his truck prolly 32 or 33" tall.

you can run 285/75s no prob, which are pretty much 33/1250s. My dad runs bfgs on his duramax with these wheels.

They are (CHev wheels) 16x6.5. The bolt pattern and offset will work fine, not sure if the hubs are bored out big enough, should be though, since both 3rd Gens and Dmaxes run AAM 11.5 rear ends.
I put 3rd Gen Dodge wheels on my Chevy and they fit fine (look better too IMO maybe because ALL the GM's have the same wheels).
GM center cap fits well on the Dodge wheels, using GM lug nuts. Appears the Dodge center caps would fit well on the GM wheels, using the Dodge lugnuts.

Just because the axles are the same model does not mean they use the same axleshafts or hub. Not all Dana 60's are 8 lugs are they? I believe the hubs are too small and would need to be turned down to fit properly.

Yes the hubs are too small on the wheels. I tried putting a set on mine but the hubs hit on my dana 70. Take them to a machine shop and...

Ya, the width is the real downer with the OEM Chev rims. I wouldn't try 285's myself, my biz partner runs 265's and they are pretty much as big as you would want. After that they look like big doughnuts and wear the centers out. Same with the older 2nd genners...6.5 width..

My ma has an 02 Dmax with 285's on it, they wear fine and don't look bad at all. Yes, the sidewalls do bulge out, but it looks nice. I've got 295's on my 01 gasser with the stock aluminum wheels, and they look good, don't bulge out as much. The 97 came with 3rd gen 17's with 315's. They look good, but rub horribly on the control arms. Take it for what it's worth.

I have a complete set of the GMC Sierra Duramax wheels here with tires that have about 40% tread if anyone is interested.
