Door rust

I recently started to grind the paint off of the bottom of my doors, only to discover that the rust was coming from inside the doors. The factory drain points aren't clogged. I know this is common, was wondering who has come across a permanent solution to this.

Mud flaps and running boards.....

I was gonna take mine off as soon as I got it home, but noticed how clean the rockers and fenders stayed with them on so I left them on....that and I found out they are worth about $1500!!

My '01 chevy had the rockers blasted to metal after two years and 25K miles

Remove the door panels and rough up the inner door panels with a wire brush. Vacuum it out. Buy rust converter, put it in a pump sprayer and fill the cavity with the converter and let it sit overnight. You might have to do this twice to get it fully converted to iron oxide. Once dry, spray a coating of cold galvanizing compound inside there and forget about it till you re treat it in a few years.

Also, Remove the plugs in the backside of the door jamb rocker panels under the door (rubber plugs in my truck) and fill the cavity with the same rust converter. If you don't have any access to the rocker panels, then drill some holes and put plugs in there when finished.

I do this once a year.... as seen in this thread.

Thank you very much. Much cheaper than repeatedly buying doors
