Has anyone ever actually seen a cruise servo go bad? I always leave the wheel switch on and today when I was letting the grid heaters go I heard a clicking and popping under the hood. Opened it and it was coming from the cruise servo. Switch off at wheel, popping ceased, switch on, popping again. Cruise worked briefly and then stopped. Now no noise and no cruise. I'm thinking it must be the servo but I've not found a post yet where that was the problem.

 

For the solenoid to be clicking when the cruise isn't in use would indicate it's getting power from somewhere when it shouldn't.
Sounds like a short or bad PCM.

 

So, no airbag light and the horn works ..............
still need to "check under battery"

 

one of the functions of the stoplight switch is to turn off the cruise control. maybe it needs to be replaced. they're only $15.00

 

Replaced brakelight switch 2 days prior to this. Will let you know when it is diagnosed
