Cruise control

The cruise control on my 99 has begun a wierd habit. When I set it to a specific MPH, it gains a little, then settles back to the MPH I set it at for a short distance, and then begins to "creep" up. At first, it was not too noticible, but now it seems to creep up faster. When I press and hold the coast button until the truck has reached the desired MPH, and released, it goes back up again. But not all the time.

Is there any connection with the APPS? I changed that once but to my knowledge I can't recall if it started then or not.

Any suggestions?

You might try to check and see if you have any vacuum leaks to the servo.

It's the nature of the beast, mine does the same thing. some have said it's caused by a bad servo.

I just learned to compensate for it by setting the desired speed about 5 mph lower and when it stops hunting, I just tap the acc button.

Thanks tenbrooks, that's my guess too. It just seemed too strange that it started acting up after changing the APPS. I have a new servo coming from e-Bay.

Yep, been there, done that. Mine would sometimes just haul off and accellerate 15 mph over what I was already cruising at, possibly caused by a bump in the road. It was scary with all the bombs on my 99. I'd just get pressed back in the seat as it shot off...
New CC servo (under the left battery tray) fixed it.
