Cleaning out the evaporator
On my wife's 94 the fan motor started making noise and vibrating so I figured I'd be pulling the dash to access to the motor and clean out the evaporator. I found that the fan motor can be pulled with out much effort and maybe that may give me enough room to clean out every thing. With the fan motor and the resistor block removed I could see the pine needles and leaves filling the cavity and there is just enough room going up inside where the motor sits to reach in for a good clean out. I bought a p-trap from ACE hardware, attached that to my tank vacuum and was able to give it a good cleaning by sticking it up in there where my fingers couldn't reach.
You have to remove the glove box door to get access to the fan motor connector.
I may not have gotten 100% of the needles out but it sure beats removing the dash.

I cleaned out a Ford that was plugged up similar to yours but was hard to get at without taking everything apart.
What I did was set the vents to the midlevel position, closed all the vents but one then back flushed it with a gas powered leaf blower blowing into the open vent with the louvers removed.
I at first tried with an air compressor, not enough air.
It looked like a waterfall of leafs shooting up from the vent intake in front of the windshield for quite some time.
After that the A/C and heater worked fine.
