A certain kind of towing mirror (not CIPA/kool-vue)

Now to the rest of you who helped, I am hugely appreciative. Was very helpful. Especially seeing as how I'm not like Valv here who must go around and memorize the exact kind of mirrors every model generation has and does not have, and is angered by someone asking such OBVIOUS questions that everybody undoubtedly knows.

Again, thank YALL very much.
Wow, I am surprised by your terminology you actually opened the books in school last year, I am impressed.

Wow just re-read that. Did go just a bit overboard didn't I? Sorry, had a real bad day.

What? An educated redneck? Impossible! Lol... College is moderately expensive without mommy and daddy footin the bill Had to take a year off. But last year I did succeed in making dean's list without opening any book more than once, and missing 90% of my classes. God bless semi photographic memory lol.

Back on topic though, I checked out the "factory" tow mirrors for the 96 year models today at dodge. They're the 4 mounting point metal mirrors that cover nearly half the door. So I'm assuming that the one I'm looking for is off of something 98-02 correct? Dealer said they'll run around $380 (pretax). I'm thinking that those kool-vue's might just be the better idea, though if I could find a set of manuals for $200 like BuckShotRam said, I'd snap em up quicker than you can say I tell you what!

Hey, ya the 98-02 tow mirrors are what ya want. The kool vues look the same as them but have power and heated ( assuming they are right, I'll know tomorrow ) Anyways if you want to go with the factory 98-02 tow mirrors without heat I have new ones that I will be selling as long as my kool vues work out. if your interested pm me.

Hey L&L, There's the factory "tow" mirrors from the 3500: West coast style metal tube frame mounts on surface of door in four places. Then there's the factory "flip up/out" tow mirrors, black plastic mounts to door pillar at front edge of window, available power/heated for 03 and up. Mopar.. The snow down here wasn't too bad today, most has already melted off, thank goodness! Kurt

So just to make absolutely certain, the black powerless and heatless flip-up/out factory tow mirrors from 98-02 will fit my 96 right? Any special shenanigans or jerry-riggin you have to do to mate them up?

Awesome, thanks for the reply DT.

Yeah, I've got a tendency to be hot headed sometimes. One of the reasons I took my gun rack and guns out of my truck. Truth be told, that's why I was so hot and bothered when I wrote that. Anyone ever tells you it's easy to load a breach-loader 12gauge with a 34.5" barrel, and aim it out the driver side window of your single cab while driving with your knees (in a stick mind you) down the highways doing 80, with the alignment no where near good, chasing after the truck that just rear-ended you and took off, is plain out lying. Yeah, I peppered his tailgate real good, but my pinch of Copenhagen flew out my mouth when I stuck my head out the window...

Though he's lucky I came up with some heavy dove shot instead of either the 00 buck shot or 3 1/4" slugs I had rolling around behind my seat...

Hey sorry I didnt reply sooner. I got them on the truck yesterday they look stock bolt right on and plug into factory harness's. Partr of the reason I didn't post sooner is I was a little ticked off do to my own incompatence. When I put the drivers side mirror on I wasnt paying attention and picnhed the wires between the mirror and the door so I had to take it off and solder the wires back together and they both worked fine after I fixed it heat worked and they moved with the joystick thing so they are good. Only problem is I also blew a fuse or something after and I haven't bothered to look for it yet just wanted to calm down a bit first. I will fix it tomorrow. Whatever I did made the radio, dome light and mirrors quit. I am sure its a fuse I will fix it tomorrow and reply. But yes these mirrors are correct and unless you are incompetent like me you shoul;d have no problems with them, Frank

Hip-hip-hooray!

I'd have a set on the way already, but I'm better off waiting til warm weather. Last time I took a door off in the cold every single one of the tabs holding it on broke
