Cab clearance lights
Cab clearance lights
I am wanting to put a set of clearance lights on my 2002 truck. Is the dealer able to order these as a kit? I remember reading something on here that there was a change in the 2000 model year is this true? If so what changed? Anyone know what the cost is for these?
Thanks

I don't know it they changed them or not. But I have seen clearance lights listed on ebay. I think there were some new kits, wiring and all included in the kit. This may save you a few bucks if you were going to install them yourself.
I have seen the part number for the lights somewhere here. You are corrcet the lights did change in 2000. The part number I saw was for pre 2000. I hope someone here has the number for the newer style lights. I really like the look of them. I believe the Dodge kit has the templates and every thing you need for the lights.
i think after 2000 the lights got narrower. i bought my kit for my 97 ( properly valved ) from the dealer for right around 80 bucks. if i remember they were listed for 95 - 2000. had a template and all the wiring. very simple. scott
I have also seen them in JC Whitney as a kit. Many here have reported that the proper drilling locations are marked in the roof under the headliner, eliminating the need for the template. My truck came with the lights, so I don't know personally. I was going to add them to my 2500, but I traded it in on my 3500 first.

), wiring, template, instructions, bulbs, everything you need to install it.

I put some on my 02 and my wifes 98. The 02 i spaced like the old fords. I spaced them evenly. On my wifes, i noticed when I did my 02 that they already had the places marked out. I just took a punch, made a small little ding and that was the center. The lights I got from JC Whitney looked just like the dodge lights. Plus I think I spent 30 bucks with shipping for each set. I recommend JC Whitney, much cheaper.
I'll have to vouch for the strength of the original equipment lights on the '98 3500. I was driving into my machine shed when somehow the electric garage door started down unnoticed. It caught the clearance lights which ripped out the rivets on the door bottom, bent the door all to heck and scratched the****out of the top of the cab! Not a crack nor a mark on the lights themselves. I wonder if J.C. stuff will take that? 'Course most people won't do the dipstick things I seem to do.
