Take the mirror off and you will see three small screws that hold a triangular piece of plastic which is a cover, under that cover there is a tightning set screw that you can tighten. The mirror comes off easly, the door mount is held on with two screws one by the mirror head and one by the door handle, you will more than likley need to go to the local parts store and pickup some new plastic door panel snap in holders you do not have to take it completley off just unsnap the top and one or two down the hing side, it takes a 10mm socket to get the mirror off,be sure and stuff a towel down in the door panel and to unclip the elect plug if yours are powerd. On that set screw you might have to turn over the little aluminum piece that creates the friction when going back with it. Goodluck,,Rick

When I got my truck both mirrors flopped in the breeze. Tore into them and found the screws that hold the clamp (the one that goes around the main mirror post) screw into pot aluminum and the threads were stripped on both mirrors. They are metric but I tapped them to 1/4-20 and used cap screws. Works great. I do not know what caused the problem initially but suspect the kids were using them for a swing set.
