brakes make my rear end jumpy

My rear end jumps like crazy at 40mph when I put the brakes on. I recently had a wheel bearing explode on me. I had to replace the frontright spindle, hubs/rotors and new pads. Totally out of the blue, didn't hear or feel anything. I just bought the truck and it's bounced since I bought it. I'm wondering if the bouncing was soooo bad that it caused the wheel bearigns to come apart. Any idea? The left side seems fine I spun it around and it seemed unwarped. Just wondering if the bouncing is coming from the the other rotor or if it's rear brakes. Also what kind of rotors do you guy slike. I bought the Napa medium proced one. Thanks guys.

OK, I'm kinda confused with this one. You talk about rotors and the rear end hopping, but that truck did not come with rear disk, and a brake problem at one end of the truck should not affect the other.
Did someone put rear disk on this truck?
Do you mean the front axle, and are just saying "rear", as in differential?
Is it 2x4 or 4x4?

Have you considered a personal trainer?

Could be a couple things, oil/brake fluid leak on to shoes, drums out of round or shoes with shiny spots on them. Best to pull them apart and have a look. My vote is for drums that are out of round.

No, it has drums on the back. But I can feel ther rotor warped in the front when coming to a complete stop. At around 40 and braking it makes the rear end bounce sometimes pretty bad. On the verge of it actually hopping. The rear end has some super stiff springs in it and I was thinking that the bad rotor in the front may be causing the hopping in the back due to the stiff springs. Perhaps I just need to go ahead and repair the rear drums also. Any advice on brands of brakes? I'm not sure what;s going on with it, but all of your opinions/answers is much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Sounds like out or round rear drums to me. You should be able to get them turned if they arent really worn or really out of round.

The back end of my truck was jumping a bit too so I pulled the drums off and had them machined. Only cost me $20.00 bucks. I changed to the one ton chevy wheel cylinders while I had the drums off and now good rear brakes and smooth too.

So what have you replaced on the front, just one rotor?
Have you turned the other rotor?

Hey guys thanks for the info. I'll be replcing the left side rotor this weekend and doing the rears next weekend. Does anyone have any good tips for rear brkaes. I hate doing them and have only done them once on my car. I figure they probably work the same as the car.

Do one side at a a time that way you can use the other as a reference.
