Brake problems

Question for you folks on my 98 2500 CTD 4x4 with 152K miles.

I am on the 3rd brake job and the same thing seems to happen very early on after each job. While braking, empty, the rearend seems to hop or be very uneven in the grab or pressure on the rear drums. After a few thousand miles it gets so bad, I just give up and get a new brake job. The front brakes are fine.

Turning the drums, changing pads, wheel cylinders does not correct the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution. None of my chevys did this.

Thanks

Re:Brake problems

I know you said that you just had the brakes serviced. But you might check the adjusters in the rear drums. If they are bad out of adjustment the antilock system will make the back brakes grab and the completely let go instead of just pulsing the pressure. The adjusters have also been known to become stuck and will not self adjust. If this is the case take them out and completely disassemble and clean. Grease with white grease or high quality synthetic brake parts grease. This should free them up so they work properly.
