Brake peddle switch
I believe I need to change the peddle switch, the one pressed when you apply the brakes. My problem is it works fine but after you let off from a stop, the brake lights stay lit for a few seconds, 2 max. Not a big deal you say but when you are pulling a trailer with electric brakes, they don't release until that 2 seconds with a lurch.
Am I on the right track. Is this a local Napa part or is this a dealer only item. I haven't really looked for it yet but replaced a few on an old jeep so I'm guessing it's below the dash by the brake peddle correct? Also is there a return spring on the peddle that is maybe weak?
Thanks

Switch for my '95 was $12 at Napa. Up under the dash by the brake arm.
Self adjusting.
If you think it might be the pedal return spring try lifting up on the pedal with your foot and see if it cures the problem.
Could also be the pivot point of the brake arm is sticky and needs a little lube.

Good luck with this. Mine does it too and so does the 05 dually we use to tow a 36' gn. It's a pain to tow with this.
I have no idea where the switch is, but I'm sure others as well as my self would appreciate pictures and a write up on this repair!
To me, it feels like a spring is worn out that would push the peddle back up....

Went out and did a little digging under the dash and took a pic. Sorry it's from my phone but you'll get the idea.
So there is no return spring just the rod from the hydro boost or MC but the peddle does go back to full return, it's just slow for the last 2 seconds or so.
Here is my next thought, you can see the plunger from the sensor to the peddle arm, can I "attach/glue" a coin to cause the plunger to engage faster? I know that will work but what about the release side, meaning when I press on the brakes with the coin or spacer installed will the trailer brakes engage that much slower?
I guess I'll test it soon unless I get a definite NO from anyone.

Like I said, the switch is self adjusting. No need for a coin.
Just pull out the moving part of the switch and push on the brakes, it's adjusted.
For the $12 it costs for a new switch I don't mess with them, just replace.
