Borgeson install problem?

After replacing the ball joints, Luke's Link on track bar, Y to T steering, NAPA steering gear box and alignment I still had about 1/8 turn play in the steering wheel. Ordered a Borgeson steering shaft but it doesn't want to slip over the steering gear shaft. I miced the gear shaft and inner dia of the Borgeson =.705 on both.
Question: Has anyone else had this problem?

Is the female end of shaft the same shape as the box. Do you have the bolt completely removed from the shaft?

Yes the set screws are removed from the shaft. The gear box shaft has splines ( don't know the #s) with a flat spot on one side. the female end of the Borgeson steering shaft is round and splined (don't know the #s).
when I get the time I plane to count the splines on both the gear box shaft and the Borgeson shaft or cll NAPA to see if they can tell me the number of splines on the shaft.

The hole where the set screw goes needs to be lined up with the flat spot on the input shaft. Does your new shaft extend and retract easily? Maybe try installing the shaft on the gear box first before making it up on the firewall end if you haven't already.

I've hooked my Borgeson shaft up to 3 different makes of steering gears with no issues. Hope it works out for ya!

Thanks for the input . I've done all of the above, I just got started late. I know it should fit. Maybe if I talk nice to it.

Have had my borgeson shaft on an AGR box and now a Redhead box. Both were a very snug fit. It;s easier to install on the box first as stated above.

Good news. The Borgeson shaft is installed. I spoke to it respectfully and it slid right on. (Very close tolerances, I had to use a small pry bar but it went on).
