Best $25 I ever spent.

Guess I haven't been paying attention or something because I didn't know about the BD APPS Noise Isolator until just this past week. I started having weird shifting problems where the torque converter would lock & unlock over & over....Also, I noticed a weird surge problem couple of times this past year.....

I installed the APPS Noise Isolator tonight & I couldn't believe the difference it made...Truck shifts so much smoother now....I am a believer in this product....Best $25 you can ever spend if you have an auto transmission.

Seriously....Really?
I just wrapped the alt wire going to the battery w/aluminum foil and then electrical tape, then make sure all the batt connections are clean and tight. $0.50
But I guess it may cancle/isolate all noise.

I guess as long as it works & fixes the problem....I was just happy that the truck shifts so much smoother now & it seems to have fixed the problem I was having...

If you want it to get even better, get the replacement APPS from Timbo01, on here. My 99 had issues with the lock and unlock, which appear to be ground issues, then the dead pedal was coming intermittently, so I go the replacement and the lock/unblock issue has almost quit (I still have not messed with the grounds), and I got behavior I never had before, the TC doesn't unlock when you let off the acc. pedal. It now acts like an exhaust brake and stays locked until the speed or RPM get down to almost an idle. Never had that before, since I bought the truck.

Your next thread will be about the best 150 bucks you ever spent.

ever have any problems with the weird surge that occurs sometimes with the transmission....I've had this happen a couple of times.....Isn't this related to noise interference from APPS?

The only thing I can think of with a "surge" would be the TC locking and unlocking. Could that be what you are talking about?

mmmm....i don't think it's the tc....only time i've had it happen is when starting out driving slowly in 1st or 2nd....i just remember hearing some people say a surge issue could be related to apps noise interference....

i did do one thing recently that seems to have made a difference in how smoothly & quickly the transmission shifts....i never had done a band adjustment on mine & i just recently dropped the pan & adjusted front & rear bands....transmission seems to be shifting really nice now....seems like maybe this made a difference.....

You absolutely have to adjust the bands every time you change out the tranny fluid and filter on these transmissions.

i think it's possible that the surge problem was related to the band adjustment....the good thing is that this truck doesn't have many miles on it at all....& hadly ever gets used to tow....it only had about 40,000 on it when i did the first adjustment....i changed the fluid & filter first time at 30,000 but failed to do the band adjustment so i had to redo it....this last time when i dropped the pan the magnet had hardly anything on it & everything looked good so hopefully no harm was done in waiting so long.....
